Organization

Peer group meetings will be organized in Helsinki and Turku or remotely. Each group will meet 10 times, and a maximum of eight men can participate in one group. Before beginning the peer group process, participants will be interviewed in order to learn more about their situation and experiences.

The service is free of charge and confidential.

Topics and themes

The peer groups offer participants a chance to discuss how loneliness has impacted their lives and how they feel about their lives in general. In a group setting, the participants can delve deeper into their experiences of loneliness and social isolation. Each participant’s experiences are discussed confidentially and in equal regard.

Hearing other men’s experiences, whether they are similar or different, helps make sense of one’s own situation. The peer group also enables men to realize that they are not alone with their emotions and challenges. The goal is to help participants find meaning and structure in their daily lives and support social interaction.

The themes participants can discuss during peer group meetings include the role of self-esteem, how to recognize helpful resources in their lives, and the challenges they face. We will also discuss relationships, the building blocks of a good life, and plans for the future.
